Do it now, before you can't defrost your windshield! Or for some of you maybe it's too late. I put one in my mother in law's car on Monday. It was only warming up to 150... new thermostat and it sits at 195 just like it's supposed to!

On an annoying (but related) side note, it's supposed to be 2 degrees (F) here in the morning with wind chills of -30. They are closing schools left and right. CLOSING SCHOOL! BECAUSE IT'S COLD OUTSIDE! WTF@#*$%)@#

Really insane. I know a lot of kids walk to school, and 0 degrees is below any "average", but not so abnormal that everyone who lives around here shouldn't have proper winter gear. We often get sub-zero temps at some point during the winter and school has never been closed for the cold weather before. Really really annoying. I will be happy to drop off my kids at the superintendents house for the day, though, because I have to go to work tomorrow no matter how cold it is.

If kids don't have a proper coat, hat, neckwarmer, or thick socks please speak up, there are many people who donate winter clothing and can make sure it gets to the kids who need it. Seriously. I feel bad for those families that can't afford the clothes they need, but that's no reason to close school. It isn't even going to snow!

"... with wind chills of -30."

Well there's the reason why they're closing. That shit can be lethal.

Sure, if you don't dress for it.

While a true point, it's probably a better idea to keep kids home when weather reaches those levels than betting that the kids will be dressed well enough for it. I've got lots of cold weather clothes, and I'm still cold when I have to go out when the temperature is that cold.

Yeah, I hear you and the point they are making, but I strongly disagree with it. The youngest kids don't walk to school on their own, schools take attendance, if you can't dress your kid for it, I guess you can keep your kid home or drive them to school yourself that day.

It's one thing if the heat is broken in the school. That's happened, a pipe burst or something else will close a school and I have no problem with that. But to close entire systems just for the cold? Nope nope nope.
